Instructions:

  1. Heat the cream: In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Be careful not to let it boil.

  2. Add coffee: Stir in the instant coffee granules or espresso powder until completely dissolved.

  3. Combine chocolate: Remove the saucepan from heat and add the finely chopped dark chocolate. Let it sit for a minute to soften, then stir until smooth and fully combined.

  4. Add butter and vanilla: Stir in the unsalted butter and vanilla extract (if using) until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
